RCC For Women: WORD | 12.1.18
The season of Advent begins on December 2nd this year. In the season of Advent, we remember the many years—centuries, really—the people of God waited for the long-prophesied Messiah, who eventually arrived through the birth of Jesus. The word Advent, in fact, means “coming” or “arrival.” It marks the beginning of the liturgical year because it is where the story begins.

During this season, we assume a posture of waiting. We choose to enter the story as it happened for those who came before us: with anticipation, with groaning, with longing, with hope.

It is no new practice for us to wait in the dark. We, too, live in a world of shadows. We, too, trust in a future victorious day. We, too, cling with a stubborn hope to what God has promised: the return of our coming King. Advent is a time for us to practice the “already but not yet” kind of waiting.

Please consider joining us for a special advent women’s breakfast as prepare together for the season of Advent. We will spend some time learning about the season of Advent, exploring the traditions, meaning and purpose of this season of waiting.

In addition to the short teaching time, a DIY advent wreath workshop will be provided. Participants will learn how to make an advent wreath of fresh greenery for their home. The cost is $15 and will cover the supplies and greenery (candles not provided).

Please RSVP with payment by November 24th so all supplies can be purchased. Please be sure to bring a breakfast item to share.
