Dr. Christopher Bellavita Educator Award
The Center for Homeland Defense and Security (CHDS) Alumni Association is proud to announce the first annual CHDSA Dr. Christopher Bellavita Educator Award. The award will be given at the CHDS Alumni APEX Conference in Monterey in February 2023.

The award recognizes Center for Homeland Defense & Security alumni educators who have demonstrated leadership and commitment to homeland security education as exemplified by the vision and leadership of Dr. Christopher Bellavita.

Nominee Eligibility:
  • Be currently engaged (or retired in 2021 or 2022) in homeland security/public safety education (public, private or nonprofit sector) as an employee or volunteer educator.
  • Must be an alumnus of a CHDS program who successfully completed all program requirements.

Selection Criteria
The short description (1000 word limit) should clearly highlight how the nominee has shown excellence in instruction, capacity to inspire students, and dedication to innovation and critical thinking within homeland security education in one or more of the following categories:
