Street Show is a paid busking program in downtown Minneapolis that amplifies the city's street performance culture, supports vibrant street art activities, and improves the experiences of downtown visitors, workers and residents.

Locations
Primary performance locations are on Nicollet Mall and Hennepin Avenue between 5th and 10th streets, but locations vary.

Times

Two- hour performance slots are available Tuesday through Friday during lunchtimes and afternoons (indicate preferences below).

Performance Requirements

Must be family friendly (all ages appropriate). Many performers are musicians but this program is NOT limited to music. Dancers, painters and spoken word artists as welcome, as long as it's a good show. Please note: no drums are allowed for Street Show performances.

Signage & Sound System:
Amplification is helpful to being heard downtown, and all amplified performers MUST USE our battery-powered Roland Street Cube, along with our iconic Street Show red gear wagon. Microphones, mic cables and stands and some adapters are available (which you will plug into the cube). All other amplifers are forbidden and no plug-in power is available.

Payment

$120/2-hr performance > Solo performers
$180/2-hr performance > Duos
$200/2-hr performance > Trios or more
You are free to keep all tips and sell your merch!
New this year: all payments will be made via Venmo or direct deposit to your bank account (either a Venmo account or your routing and bank account numbers are required)

Street Show Artists Unite for Justice

All reported tips will be matched by a Mpls DID donation to five social justice organizations (JXTA, YouthLink, Voices for Racial Justice, zAmya Theater Project, Kulture Klub Collaborative) that Street Show artists selected. The Mpls DID has donated more than $23,000 to these and other social justice organizations in honor of Street Show artists since the program began in 2020.
