To distinguish our workforce, all volunteers will be outfitted in fun EAT Detroit chefs aprons (which you may keep as a souvenir) and wear special wristbands. To thank you for your service, you’re invited to attend the VIP post-event party at One Campus Martius (if you’re not working it!). However, being a volunteer doesn’t allow you to “attend’’ the event as a ticketed or wrist-banded diner. Thank you in advance for adhering to that rule. However, dinner will be provided to you.
Please note that the opportunities that you’re registering to volunteer for are general in nature; specific jobs will be assigned as the event draws near.
An orientation meeting will be held from 10 am until noon on Saturday, May 18 at our SAY Detroit Play Center at Lipke Park, where we’ll likely also do an ATTH project related to the event. SAY Play is located at 19320 Van Dyke Ave., Detroit, MI. 48234. Details to come.
Duties: After a mandatory meeting held at One Campus Martius by the team captains, volunteers will fan out to work the Help Desk, the Volunteer Break Room, and, most important, the Registration Tables, where patrons will check in and receive their wristbands and route maps.
Your service is one of the most integral roles of the night. We are in need of two shifts of volunteers. Transport volunteers will enjoy a variety of roles through out the evening along the shuttle routes, including: riding the shuttles to welcome the patrons once the event begins and highlight the restaurants at each stop; teamed with a partner, serve as a route greeter at the stops and help direct patrons to their destinations. Your transportation captain will help prepare you for your shift with a brief mandatory orientation at 4:30 pm for Shift 1, and 7 pm for Shift 2, on the main level inside One Campus Martius, and you’ll have a master cheat sheet so you’ll never be stumped! We encourage our second-shifters to come early and enjoy dinner in our exclusive Volunteer Break Room before beginning your service; first shifters can dig in after 7:30 pm!
Duties: Volunteers will help set up and run the event space for the post-event party under the direction of the team captain.
