Centro Hispano Hosts
Seahawk for a Day

Seahawk for a Day is an event where MI CASA High School students spend the day auditing UNCW classes. MI CASA is a mentorship program designed to identify high achieving Hispanic students from local high schools who wish to further their education in universities like UNCW. UNCW student volunteers as mentors for two years.
The goal of Centro Hispano is to support the rapidly growing number of Hispanic students applying, attending and completing degrees at UNCW. We promote opportunities that broaden understanding and appreciation of diverse Hispanic cultures, offer resources that maximize the success of each student, and most importantly, providing a place where every student feels at home while striving for success.

If you teach on Mondays we would truly appreciate your willingness to have our MI CASA mentees audit your course. Seahawk for a Day will be held on Monday, November 11, 2019 (8:00 am - 4:30 pm).

If you would like to host one or more mentees, please complete the linked form by Friday, October 18, 2019.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Our mentees look forward to the opportunity to participate in your class.

MI CASA (Mentors Initiating Community Action, Support, and Advocacy) is a youth mentoring program at the University of North Carolina Wilmington Centro Hispano. This two-year program is designed to prepare local Hispanic High School students for college admission through mentoring, college preparation seminars, tutoring, community service, college exposure, and cultural enrichment activities.
