“New Paradise of Silent Island” centers on Taiwan and its history, weaving together colonial memories and folk culture into a vibrant
“cultural mix” fantasia. Through the convergence of glove puppetry, dolls, anime, and the temple processions, the work creates a
poetic world that is both magical and deeply rooted in Taiwan’s local spirit — a
dazzling vision of hybridity, resilience, and transformation.
2. "Renaissance of Its Ashes" uses the body as a medium to initiate a cross-cultural dialogue between Eastern and Western cosmologies. Shifting between realms of faith and spirituality, the piece mirrors the choreographer’s somatic memories of Taiwanese Taoist rituals with the allegorical, religious world of Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch, exploring how different civilizations respond to the universal questions of existence.
