The 𝗘𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗚𝗠 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, the leading European organisation fighting Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), is hosting an 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 and media professionals. We would like to open up this opportunity to 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.

𝗙𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is a 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 and 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲 directly affecting more than 𝟲𝟬𝟬.𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲. Journalists and the media are key to help raise awareness and inform the general public on this human rights violation.

This 𝟮.𝟱 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 is designed to 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗬𝗢𝗨 the 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 and 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 to cover FGM and FGM news stories in a way that will educate the public, provide accurate narratives and facts, and avoid stigmatisation.

The training will be delivered by 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱, in 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 and will include 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 and 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 on:
• The issue of FGM and 𝗙𝗚𝗠 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲
• What 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀, clichés and 𝗺𝘆𝘁𝗵𝘀 to 𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 in articles (including images)
• How to 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 the stigmatisation of FGM Survivors & affected communities
• 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 and 𝗵𝗼𝘄 to 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝘂𝘁 and interact with affected communities and Survivors

The training will be facilitated by 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲, with sessions delivered by 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗮 𝗙𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗮 (AIDOS - Italy), 𝗗𝗿 𝗔𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝗮𝘁-𝗗𝗮𝗮𝘀, and 𝗟𝗲𝘆𝗹𝗮 𝗛𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝗕𝗘.

People who have attended the online training will be given a 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲.
