We are excited to announce the second rendition of the SAN Engineering and Science Symposium (Arab News Coverage), Saudi Arabia’s first national science fair open to all students. SANES is designed to provide a unique platform for young scientists to showcase their research and innovation on a national stage. Through partnerships with esteemed organizations, we aim to offer an exceptional experience for all participants. 

Submission Processes and Deadlines

Please note that in order to have a chance at qualifying for the final round, students must complete both the first & second round submissions on time:

• First Round Submissions: Students will be able to register, enter their project titles,  and submit their project abstracts by February 28th, 2026, 11:59 p.m. Project abstracts must outline proposed methodology and research question(s). 

• NOTE: Those who missed the First Round Submissions deadline can still participate in the Second Round Submissions, but will need to complete the First Round Submissions before. Thus, the practical deadline of the First Round Submissions is April 18th as well.

• Second Round Submissions: All main track submissions will be due by April 18th, 2026, 11:59 p.m. Please note that only submissions from registered participants will be validated.

Three-Stage Competition Format

1. First Round Submissions (Online): Participants register for SANES and submit preliminary details. The abstract must clearly state the research question(s), objectives, and proposed methodologies. Results/conclusions are not mandatory for this stage. 

2. Second Round Submissions (Online): Participants from the first round must submit a more in-depth presentation. This includes a detailed slideshow, a video, and a more in-depth explanation of results. Any participants from the first round may submit to the second round.

3. Final Round (In-Person): All participants will be notified by email on April 23rd, 2026, if they make it to the Final Round. Finalists will be invited to compete at an in-person event held at the American School Dhahran (ASD) campus on June 6th, 2026. Here, students will present their projects to a panel of expert judges and have the chance to win cash prizes and special awards. 

How to Register and Submit Projects

1. Complete the first round submission form (January 15th, 2026 – February 28th, 2026)

2. Submit your project on the SANES portal (February 28th, 2026 – April 4th, 2026)
