If you have a publishing project and want to be considered to attend
SPRINT MILANO ART BOOK FAIR [SMABF] on
23–24 November 2024 in Milan, please fill out this submission form.
SMABF is a non-profit artist-led intersectional salon that since 2013 welcomes individual artists, informal collective or more structured publishing houses promoting a broad and open view on different languages [drawing, graphic, typography, photography, writing] and formats [zines, magazines, books]. The fair is accompanied by a public program of talks, performances, screenings and exhibitions.
SMABF is dedicated to give platform to authors and publishers and is not open to bookstores or distributors except for specific cases by direct invitation.
Access to the public is
free. Publishers participation to the fair is
free upon donation of 2 titles selected by our team [see conditions below]. For those realities that want to be considered and are supported by a vascular brand or promoted by an institution, we reserve the right to activate an economic exchange that can help support our activity and keep the fair more accessible to all.
For magazines with a significant circulation, we propose an advertising exchange. This not only brings visibility to SMABF but also ensures a benefit to all the participants and the success of the event.
Tables come in two sizes:
Large [200 x 80 cm approx.] and
Medium [100 x 80 cm approx.]. Artists/publishers with fewer than 10 titles may be assigned a Medium table, while publishers with higher production volumes will be considered for a Large table. Medium tables are more available, potentially increasing your chances of selection.
Application Deadline
1st August 2024
If selected, you'll be notified via email by Sept 15.
Please note:- Submit your application only if you can commit to attend the duration of the ABF and therefore the following schedule:
Saturday, November 23, 2024 11am–9pm [Publishers entry 10am]
Sunday, November 24, 2024 11am–9pm [Publishers entry 10am]
- SMABF primarily focuses on paper-based materials. We ask to limit the display of apparel to one type of T-shirt, tote bag, or other garment [with variations in color and size accepted]. LPs or tapes must always be accompanied by editions.
- If your application is successful, we kindly request to donate a selection of titles to SPRINT. These books are selected by the team and will be used to enrich our archive, given to the volunteers, or contribute to a future possible fundraising raffle. We ask for 2 titles per publisher, with a total amount not exceeding 100€. We appreciate your understanding and respect in refraining from giving us copies of heavily worn titles.
- Selected entities are asked not to participate in SPRINT-like events in November in Milan and Lombardy and November 23-24 in Italy. Ubiquity can be a great asset but we prefer realities that are willing to focus on the 'here and now'.
For the newcomers and the forgetful ones, at SMABF we believe in promoting a genuine community, built on support, accessibility, and a horizontal approach. As a non-profit artist-led intersectional organization who work to keep SMABF free for publishers and public, we dedicate ourselves to providing a platform for collaboration and mutual respect. While our commitment to inclusivity and accessibility may seem abundant, we encourage reflection on the efforts and resources invested to maintain this ethos. Let's continue to appreciate and uphold the spirit of community that makes our efforts possible.
We don't accept any discriminatory behaviour: no racism, no fascism, no sexism, no lesbian/trans/homophobia, no support for any genocide.
