Central High School Child Development Preschool class is grateful to have the opportunity to open its classroom to preschoolers for 8 days. This is a learning experience for Mrs. Ketterling’s high school class as well as the actual preschool aged children. We are looking for children that are 3 or older and are potty trained to be part of our preschool class.
We will be running a 4-day week for preschool Tuesday through Friday so the students can have time to prep, plan and follow up with how preschool went for the learning process. The time of preschool is during the 1st block for the high school students but we will be providing before preschool care as early as 7:30 AM. The students will meet the children at the front main starting at 7:55 AM entrance of ATEC, which is located to the south of the main Central building, and walk them back to the class ATEC 136 daily. You are more than welcome to drop them with the students or walk them to the preschool room at welcome time. You are also welcome to wait at the main entrance for them to come out or walk to the class to pick them up. You are welcome to stay and observe at any time. The dates and times of the class are as follows:
Dec 12-15 8:10 am-9:30 am Dec 19-22 8:10 am-9:30 am
Please make sure to tell us of all conflicts with time so we can make sure we always have enough material and we are not worried about your child not being here. Please give advanced notice if there is a change of who is dropping off or picking up your child so we can help them look for the right people.
We will provide art activities, sensory activities, story time, dramatic play, building areas to help your child grow and develop. To help the high school students learn about child nutrition, there will be some small healthy snack for the child. Please make sure you let us know about any allergies up front so your child does not get anything that will endanger them or make them feel left out.
Please know that this project is a great learning experience for both the students and children of what happens in a preschool setting without paying. We will be practicing confidentiality and ethical standards during preschool and no pictures or information of your child will be shared without consent.
Since we will provide toys and activities for the children we would ask you not to let your child bring toys to preschool. Our only exception would be if your child has a certain comfort object and we will label it and have a cubby for it when they are done with it.
If you have any questions in making this decision feel free to contact Mrs. Ketterling at 605-725-8220 or Elizabeth.ketterling@k12.sd.us. Please keep this contact information in case your child is ill or there is a change we need to know about during the weeks of preschool.
We are looking forward to interacting with your child soon! The Child Development Preschool Class Term 2 2023
