In addition to monthly Board meetings during the school year, every Board member of SERF supports the organization's mission by giving 2-4 hrs each month to a committee or project. Is this feasible for you, and what time constraints do you have?
Of the following types of Board work, which most interest you?
Board Administration (i.e. recording and tracking donations, managing donor lists, recording minutes, updating Board member information)
Event Planning (i.e. coordinating advertising and invitations, managing RSVPs, coordinating venue set-up and clean-up, recruiting volunteers)
Financial Planning (i.e. collaboratively managing the income and expenditures of the organization, monitoring investments, updating monthly financial reports, overseeing IRS, state, and non-profit filings and reports)
Fundraising (i.e. developing current and potential campaigns, strengthening donor outreach, building corporate partnerships)
Granting (i.e. organizing grant applications, communicating with grant applicants, writing summaries of awarded grants for Marketing and Communications Committee, gifting for grant recipients)
Marketing and Communications (i.e. writing emails, appeals, newsletter blurbs, and newspaper articles, creating marketing materials, developing stakeholder relationships)
Website Design and Management (i.e. coordinating with Granting, Fundraising, and Marketing and Communications to keep the website updated of awarded grants and their summaries and impact, and updating donors and special events)
