This form provides information about Chromebooks, procedures relative to loss or damage to the Chromebook, and other expectations. Use of a Chromebook, like any other use of District Technology, is governed by the District’s Access to Electronic Network Policy, which students and their parents/guardians are responsible for reviewing and understanding. Inappropriate use of District technology may result in limited or banned computer use and/or disciplinary action, as outlined in the Westchester School District 92½ Chromebook Guidelines and Usage Expectations.

Westchester School District 92½ students and their parents/guardians must sign this Chromebook Agreement in order to have continued use of the Chromebook device and power cord they have received.

The Chromebook 1:1 Learning device is the property of District 92½

District 92½ has the right to collect, inspect and/or alter the device at any time.

Students may not use a personal computing device in lieu of the district provided Chromebook.

Users of District 92½ technology have no rights, ownership, or expectations of privacy to any data that is or was stored on the Chromebook, school network, or any school issued applications. There are no guarantees that data will be retained and may be destroyed.

Student data is hosted in the Google cloud; District 92½ is not responsible for data loss.

The District filters and maintains student’s web history on student Chromebooks using CIPA filtering service called Securly

Chromebook Care and Responsibilities

It is the student's responsibility to make sure he/she has a fully operational Chromebook while
at school. District 92½ Technology Department has a limited supply of loaner Chromebooks to
use, sparingly, when needed. All 1:1 learning device policies and procedures remain in effect
for loaner Chromebooks.

I understand the my student must (please check all boxes): *

Bring their Chromebook fully charged to school every day.

Keep their device clean, treat their device with care, and never leave it in an unsecured location.

Promptly report any problems with their Chromebook to the Technology department.

Not attempt to install any foreign operating system on the Chromebook, nor otherwise, alter or tamper with the system configuration.

Not remove or deface the serial number and other identification tags.

Not attempt to remove or change the physical structure of the Chromebook

Chromebook Repairs Fees

District 92½ Technology Department will attempt small Chromebook repairs at no cost if we
have used replacement parts in-house.

I understand that I, as the parent, will incur the following costs to repair the district-owned Chromebook: *

Chargers - $30 - due to negligence

Full replacement cost per model - Lenovo 300e Touch - $300

Full replacement cost per model - Dell 11 3180 - $350

Broken Screens - Touch - full replacement cost

Missing Keys, Broken TouchPads, etc. - $30

Other repairs: USB, Audio, Charging ports, Hinges, etc - full replacement if not fixable

I understand that if my student’s Chromebook is stolen, I must notify the District 92½ and file a police report. The student’s device will be replaced at no cost to the student with a copy of the police report. *

Chromebook Web Filtering

The District will filter or block material on the Chromebooks that the District, in sole
discretion, deems to be inappropriate, including certain Internet sites. The District filters are
intended to protect students from inappropriate content yet not interfere with research,
assignments, and other school-related work. While the District is committed to protecting
students while online, Technology and the Internet is constantly changing and evolving. Due to
the complexities of technology and the Internet, it is impossible to control access to all content,
and students may encounter inappropriate material. The District will use its best efforts to
ensure that technology protection measures are in place. We strongly encourage all parents to
have regular conversations with their child(ren) about appropriate uses of technology and the
potential danger. We must work together in ensuring the safety of our students.
