National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness Day Briefing: Young, Free & Positive, that we can end HIV.
This April 10th marks the fifth annual National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness Day (NYHAAD). One in five new HIV cases in the United States are among people ages 13-24, and many young people do not have access to the prevention and care tools that they need to lead healthy lives. For the past several years advocates have worked to prioritize young people in the national HIV & AIDS response.
Please join Advocates for Youth for a Congressional briefing on NYHAAD, April 10th, to learn about what concrete steps policymakers and advocates must take to ensure that young people can lead healthy lives and thrive, as well as empower them in the face of HIV. The briefing will cover topics about the current state of the HIV & AIDS epidemic among young people in the United States, the role the criminal justice system occupies in this conversation, the importance of breaking down stigma, and how young people can be key partners with governments, schools, organizations, and communities in the fight against AIDS.
You must RSVP to gain access to the meeting room within the Capitol.
We hope to see you there!
