High Performance Computing (HPC) can dramatically speed up calculations making simulations that require years to run on conventional workstations possible in only a few hours resulting in a higher interactivity.

HPC issues are of strategic importance: simulation and understanding of the climate change, optimization of energy production, real time financial analysis, subsurface analysis for oil exploration and production... and even more in support of applications of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. The most industrialized countries on the planet run an endless race for larger and larger systems with hundreds of thousands of cores. More modest high-performance computing systems are now used in a large number of companies and laboratories, and are becoming available in the cloud. Unfortunately, till today, the know-how, training and education opportunities in this field is still rare.

The HPC in Tunisia workshop is an opportunity to demystify the discipline of High Performance Computing, and emphasize its importance on a wide variety of scientific activities on both the academic and industrial spaces. The core technical aspects and prerequisites will be covered as well as some example of industrial and academic application fields that are driven and directly impacted by HPC will be presented. This second edition of the workshop will have a special focus on AI applications.

The workshop will be organized by a group of Tunisian HPC professionals coming from different industrial and academic institutions in the world. The workshop includes plenary keynote sessions, a poster session as well as tutorials and hands-on labs.
