SYNCH 2023: Building Bridges to Understanding Through Culture, Pedagogy, and Workforce Development
Brightpoint Community College is pleased to announce the theme for its second annual SYNCH symposium entitled SYNCH2023: Building Bridges to Understanding. This year's symposium explores topics that bridge culture and DEIA through culturally responsive pedagogical and social practices in the Higher Education. Further, this year's symposium seeks to share strategies and techniques that bridge gaps in workforce development and classroom practices that develop 4Cs of of 21st century learning: Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, and Critical Thinking.  The SYNCH symposium is a hyflex conference offered free of charge to all Virginia higher education professionals each January and is hosted by Brightpoint Community College in Central, Virginia.

We invite proposals for round table discussions, panel presentations, or workshops exploring topics such as implementing culturally responsive teaching methods, achieving equitable outcomes across modalities, implementing innovative pedagogical practices or tech tools, engaging and assessing diverse student populations, developing 21st Century workforce skills, understanding workforce needs, the use or implementation of OER, and other topics aligned to the symposium theme.

This year’s symposium will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, with face-to-face sessions for all Brightpoint faculty and staff and virtual sessions for our Virginia higher ed colleagues.
