Arrivants Project - Call for Stories
ArrivantsProject.ca is an exploration of Filipino migration stories in Canada. This initial call is for folks of Filipinx* heritage, who have stories or insights to share about their or their families' migration and arrival in Canada and/or the formation of hyphenated (eg Filipinx-Canadian) identities.
This project is open to anyone who identifies as Filipinx, including those of mixed race heritage and regardless of citizen or residency status. The project aims to explore a range of experiences from all generations, gender identities, sexual orientations, religious affiliations, and socioeconomic status - all are encouraged to respond to this call.
Participation will involve an in-person interview and portrait session with project founder Kristina Corre.
Sessions will take place in downtown Ottawa and will take up to 2hrs. As a thank you gift, participants will receive a 5x7" print of a portrait taken from the session. Portraits and stories from these sessions will be used to create collage installations for an art exhibition to take place in June 2019 - Canada's first Filipino Heritage Month.
