Currently, Chatham Central School District offers a targeted pre-kindergarten (TPK) program. The District is assessing the needs of our community in regard to adding a universal pre-kindergarten (UPK) program. Your feedback is valuable to us and we appreciate you taking the time to answer this brief survey to help us in our needs assessment. TPK
Eligibility of children to receive TPK services is determined by the combined factors of:
Educational need - screening performed by the District indicates the child's educational attainment is below the level appropriate for the child's age;
Economic disadvantage - the family is eligible for some form of assistance such as Aid to Families of Dependent Children, free or reduced price school lunch, food stamps, Medicaid, unemployment compensation, or disability compensation.
UPK
Any resident child would be eligible to receive UPK services. The District would select eligible children to receive UPK services on a random basis when there are more eligible children than can be served in a given school year.
For both TPK and UPK, children must be four-years old on or before December 1 of the school year they attend the program.
