National Sawdust is proud to host performance showcases for 12 recipients of the New York City Artist Corps grants from Monday, October 25 - Thursday, October 28 at 7 p.m. Announced by Mayor Bill de Blasio and Cultural Affairs Commissioner Gonzalo Casals in May 2021, the New York City Artist Corps represents an historic investment in artists by the City of New York. The $25 million program will support artists who live and work in NYC, while giving New Yorkers opportunities to experience cultural programming across the city. The City Artist Corps Showcases are made possible by the New York City Artist Corps and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.

Performances from 7-9 pm on October 27, 2021:
- Yoojin Park Quartet is lead by YOOJIN PARK, a New York City-based violinist and composer from South Korea. She’s a Universal Music Group International artist and has performed with her band at clubs such as Blue Note Jazz Club, Rockwood Music Hall, and Jazz Gallery.
- Ryan McBride Jazz is lead by drummer RYAN McBRIDE and has opened for such artists as Sheila Jordan, Dr. Eddie Henderson, and Toshiko Akiyoshi. McBride has also performed with Broadway stars Adam Pascal, Carolee Carmello, and Will Roland.
- And Then He Painted the Sky is a musical theater piece telling the story of Michelangelo painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, using the artist’s own poetry and letters as the entire text. The work is created by JAMES KENNEDY, a multidisciplinary theater artist whose work has been produced and presented by Actors Theatre of Louisville/The Humana Festival of New American Plays, The Washington National Opera/The Kennedy Center, and The Williamstown Theatre Festival.
