We believe a big part of making progress is celebrating it along the way! The Resilient Iowa Communities program loves highlighting your efforts towards a more sustainable, resilient tomorrow. If you have completed 1 or more best practices in the past or have recently made progress we want to hear about it and recognize you! 

Communities can be recognized at a bronze, silver, or gold status depending on the number of best practices completed. These can be best practices you've done since becoming a RIC Member or that you've done in the past that deserve celebrating! Communities will receive an certificate recognizing their commitment and a logo that can be added to their website, marketing materials, etc. 

The six categories for action are buildings and energy, land use, transportation, environmental management, economics and community development and environmental equity and inclusion. There are multiple options for actions in each category, providing communities with flexibility to choose practices that are in line with their values, within their capacity, and relevant to the community’s overall needs and goals. If you've engaged in a best practice that you don't see outlined in our document, no worries! Just give us a brief explanation of what you've done in the category.

Examples of best practices include methods to reduce flooding and costs, developing an extreme weather/community resilience plan, using free tools to compare the energy use and financial performance of peer facilities and more.

Bronze Recognition: Complete one action from the six categories

Silver Recognition: Complete at least two actions from the six categories

Gold Recognition: Complete three or more actions from the six categories
