Wild Virginia Board Application

At Wild Virginia, we are committed to inclusiveness. We are actively seeking candidates for board positions who bring ethnic, cultural, racial and/or gender diversity, as well as a range of thought, backgrounds, skills, experiences and expertise.

Wild Virginia works to protect and connect Virginia’s wild places. In addition to performing the legal functions of a 501(c)(3) board, the Board’s work includes raising funds for projects, working with our staff in developing clear, actionable, strategic plans, and implementing strategic direction in collaboration with staff.

Wild Virginia uses the following questionnaire as an introduction to prospective board members. The questionnaire may be followed by conversations with several of the Board's directors. Our objective is to maintain a board with diverse backgrounds, interests and skills so that all of the facets of our work are given adequate attention. When developing the Board we are often trying to respond to needs that come up as vacancies are created. Please understand that if you are not asked to serve it is by no means a reflection of our respect for you or your work.

Thank you for taking the time to introduce yourself in this way!

What you will receive: An opportunity to have a significant influence on a statewide environmental group. In addition, you’ll make new friends who are knowledgeable about Virginia’s ecosystems, the outdoors, and/or are fully dedicated to doing this important work.

Commitment:  Wild Virginia Board of Directors terms are three years. Currently we meet remotely, one to two times per month.  In addition to these meetings, we expect each Board member to be and remain a member of Wild Virginia in good standing and be fully prepared to participate in board discussions.

All Board members serve as volunteers. Reimbursement for reasonable expenses associated with being a Board member is permitted.  You will be required to sign a Conflict of Interest Policy.

In answering the following questions, please be thorough. Please attach a current resume. Again, our thanks for your time and consideration of joining the Wild Virginia Board of Directors.
