Calling all facilitators, artists, speakers, performers, activists, organizers, and mentors!

PowerShift: Young and Rising will take place on the unceded and unsurrendered territory of the Algonquin / Anishinaabe Peoples in Ottawa from February 14th - 18th, 2019 and will bring together 700+ young people stepping up together to assert their right to a livable future. Together, we will demand respect for Indigenous rights and to imagine a powerful vision for climate justice in Canada. We will honour and support the work that Indigenous Peoples have done since time immemorial to protect the planet and approach our work in an intersectional way that centres the voices and needs of Indigenous, Black, People of Colour, and other frontline communities.  

We want young people to leave ready to go back to their communities to continue to take action, buoyed by new skill sets and networks of support woven across the country.  We will ensure to share and support the myriad of issue-based and regionally focused opportunities for action, while also providing an opportunity for participants to take action together, in Ottawa.

Facilitators must be willing to communicate with the conference organizers in the lead-up to PowerShift: Young and Rising to make sure that the content is in line with the goals and outcomes, to answer questions and to ensure that all the different workshops come together to make a coherent and productive curriculum.

Because we are a grassroots organization with a limited budget, we cannot cover all travel costs or provide honorariums for all facilitators. However, we are committed to ensuring that this convergence facilitates the participation of frontline land and water defenders and communities of colour. We will accordingly subsidize the travel and time of facilitators who face geographic, economic, or other hurdles to participation.
