2017 Essential Biotechnology Skills Workshops

In this hands-on workshop, college and high school students will learn some basic skills needed in a biotechnology laboratory with an emphasis on sterile technique, making solutions, pouring agar plates, using micropipettes and aliquoting reagents.
Students are allowed to attend more than one workshop.

We had over 55 applicants for the October workshop. So Dr Wu will be contacting HS teachers to submit a quick reference form about your willingness to work carefully, ability to learn quickly, interaction with others and science interest. Please let them know to expect that email.

Participants will receive a parking permit, lunch and a certificate of volunteer hours. Usually we will have a presentation about careers or internships at lunchtime.

Event dates (2017): Feb 4, Mar 4, Apr 1
Event time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Event place: Fullerton College, Room 426

Faculty lead: Jo Wu, Ph.D. , Professor of Biology at Fullerton College

You should be receiving an email with 7-10 days before the workshop regarding your acceptance or wait list status.
Accepted students will need to confirm their participation by taking a short online lab safety quiz by the Tuesday before workshop. If you registered and did not hear back, please email ocbioteched@gmail.com
