Your child has been selected to represent your school/community in the Challenge Day Program. Challenge Day is a powerful and transformational day designed to help communities break down barriers and build connection. It is a day of fun, friendship and new possibilities. It takes place at TJHS.
This program is a Social and Emotional Learning Workshop that has been around for over 30 years. During this workshop facilitators will address the 5 core competencies of Social and Emotional Learning: Self-Awareness, Self- Management, Social Awareness, Responsible Decision Making and Relationship Skills, by providing students with tools intended to increase resilience, self-confidence, empathy, self-compassion, and help motivate them to make positive changes in their life and at school. These skills have been shown to create a more connected and safer climate for students to thrive.
We encourage all 11th graders to participate in Challenge Day. However, if you wish for your child to not participate, you certainly have the right to opt out. If you DO NOT want your child to participate, please sign below. The event will be held in the gym and school lunch will be provided. The Challenge Day fee should not prevent any student from participating. Please reach out to Sam Davis if you need fee waived. Sdavis@dpsk12.net
