Historical Marker Community Input
RISE St. James is working towards historically preserving gravesites of enslaved people and would like your input. The two sites are Orange Grove in Ascension Parish, and Buena Vista in St. James Parish. In an effort to get the physical spaces recognized on the state level, we are proceeding with nominating both sites for Louisiana Historic Markers. Please note that the data collected will be utilized for the initial draft of the historic marker script.
