Thank you for signing up to volunteer for Muslim Soup Kitchen Project! We are looking forward to working with you! Each and every single one of you make it possible for this organization to accomplish our mission, which is to "Create Unity by Serving Humanity". Thanks to you, we are able to feed, and provide for so many people in need in the Capital district and beyond. We have a lot of opportunities to choose from! Here is a descriptive explanation for all of our projects:
On-site Volunteer: Helps prepare and serve meals at Homeless Shelters, and Soup Kitchens. We volunteer at Schenectady, Troy and Albany soup kitchen sights once a month, and we usually try to make it the last Saturday of every month.
Cooking for the shelters those in need: Cooks the food that gets delivered to the homeless shelters. The cooks are provided with the ingredients and the recipes as well. The cooking can be done right from the home and gets dropped off to the masjid the day before the soup kitchen.
Visiting the sick: Going to nursing homes, and children's hospitals with volunteers to play games and read books with the patients.
Driver: Delivery to homeless shelters, and refugee homes, and any other driving needs
National Muslim Soup Kitchen Day: Our once-a-year event where we serve over 1000 meals around the Capital District
Bi-Monthly drives: Donations given to those in need, specific items are collected in each drive; toys, books, nonperishable foods, toiletries, etc.
Donation Center: Donations are accepted and organized for people with low income to come and take on every week on Saturdays from 10:00am-12:00pm. Volunteers are needed from 9:30am-12:30pm at 350 troy Schenectady rd. Latham (TEMPORARILY UNDER CONSTRUCTION)
Muslim Family Services Project: Helping refugee families in the capital district with any need.
Being a writer: Writing newsletters, and articles for MSKP
Networking and advertisement: Reaching out to people and finding more resources.
For each program you sign up for, you will receive specific e-mails when there is a volunteer opportunity!
