If you are NOT a student i.e., you hold a terminal degree, please fill out this form instead.

Student reviewers must be enrolled in a graduate program in a discipline related to biology or medicine. We do not accept undergraduate students for this position. Please note that the following requirements only apply to student internal reviewers.

When a reviewer is assigned a paper, a response is required within 1 week. Reviewers are not required to accept every paper assigned. Editors will work to ensure you are provided papers that match your expertise and interest. You will then have 4 weeks to submit a complete review. Additional time may be requested to accommodate other commitments.

Training is mandatory for student reviewers and consists of completing the Certified Peer Review course provided by Elsevier Research Academy as well as completing a single practice review.

Please be sure you meet the following criteria. Student reviewers must:

be enrolled at least part-time in a graduate program
have reliable internet access
have access to, and regularly check, email
complete all required training
be able to commit to reviewing at least 1-2 papers per quarter
