INSTRUCTIONS:  This inventory is designed for use while observing debates between political candidates, but may be used for any setting in which candidates are communicating with or about each other.

Each time you observe one debater do one of the 19 listed things that would strengthen or damage the American political culture, mark whether the action was:

Very Uncivil (VU), as described in the question; or
       Uncivil (U), or
       Somewhere in between -- , Neutral/Neither/No Data (N), or
       Civil (UC), or
Very Civil (VC), as described in the question intro

Modify your ratings as the debater gives you more evidence.  Repeat these adjustments as the debate unfolds.  When the debate is over, make your final adjustments and total each column.  If you can offer us some comments/feedback, do so in response to the final two questions.

When you are done, you can opt to receive a copy of your responses with the selection button near the bottom of the inventory.  Submit your results by hitting the "Submit" button.  They will be automatically added to a Google Sheet, which will magically (at least, that's how I understand it works) calculate your overall score for each debater, and add it to the scores other observers give them.
