Robert Yeo (b. 1940) is one of Singapore’s most established literary figures. His wide-ranging body of work spans poetry, drama, fiction, memoir, and opera librettos. He has played a significant role in shaping English-language theatre and literature in Singapore, receiving the Public Service Medal in 1991 for his contributions.

At 85, Robert is showing his youthfulness by publishing love poems not seen at all. This is his sixth book of poems, with four parts: first, love poems to a French mademoiselle Colette he met in the swinging sixties in London when he was a student; second, new poems including those inspired by paintings in the National Gallery; third, arias and choruses (some of them controversial) he wrote for the opera Fences with composer John Sharpley; and fourth, a humorous and seductive longish poem with a generous mix of Baba Malay and English — to demonstrate how gila he can be.

Come join us for an evening of readings, music, and conversation with the author and special guests, moderated by poet and critic Daryl Lim.

As the space is cozy, attendance is on a first‑come, first‑served basis. Seating is limited, with some standing space available.

ACCESSIBILITY NOTES
The venue is on the second floor and only accessible by stairs. There is also a cat, and antihistamines are available in the pantry area for anyone with allergies.
