Include sequence access version numbers?
This is a poll to help us to decide if and how we should include sequence accession version numbers in MyGene.info web API output. Currently all sequence accessions (e.g. NM_016756) are returned without its version numbers. To include its version number, it looks like this "NM_016756.4". This is a feature requested from one of our MyGene.info users, Martijn Vermaat, on our issue tracker:
Do you prefer all sequence accessions include their version numbers?
Yes, include version numbers like "NM_016756.4"
No, I prefer the way it is right now, i.e., no version numbers, like "NM_016756"
Either is fine with me or I don't use that part of data
If we want to include version numbers, which way do you prefer?
Just replace the current accession numbers with the ones including version numbers
I still need current accession number with no version numbers, better maintain strict back-compatibility (e.g. add a new field)
When you query for accessions for the matching gene, do you include version numbers? E.g.
No, I always query sequence accessions without version number
Yes, I always query sequence accessions with version number included
Somewhat useful. I normally query without version numbers, but some time I still need to query for accessions with version numbers
