Namami Shamishan Nirvan Roopam Mangalacharan performed at Mukteswara Temple Festival
This invocation opens with iconographic images of Shiva and extols him with shlokas from Tulsidas composed by Smt.V. Sarala Rao. I bow to the unmanifest form of Iswara, to that dear peace-giver, god of all.
This is suitable for Odissi students who have learnt an earlier mangalacharan.
Madhurashtakam (choreographed by Sharon Lowen)
The Madhurāṣṭakam deals with the qualities and deeds of Lord Krishna, all of which have been conceptualized as being dipped in madhu, meaning honey or nectar. In the eyes of the devotee, everything that pertains to Lord is sweet and graceful, he being the adhipati (Lord and Godhead) of all sweetness. The body of the Madhurāṣṭakam includes many qualities, attributes and motifs associated with Krishna, including the venu flute, cows, the Yamuna river, gopis, and Krishna's lila. These symbols and motifs related to the life and deeds of Lord Sri Krishna have been labelled as 'sweet' in the astakam.
starts at 7:30 min
This is suitable for Odissi students who have learnt at least one abhinaya choreography earlier
