Students Opposed to Disability Benefit Cuts
In response to proposals to changes to the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) system and other disability benefits we are raising concerns that these changes may impact the lives of millions of disabled people across the country, including young people and students. The proposed £5 billion “savings” will be the biggest cuts to disability benefits on record.

These cuts in particular have the potential to harm students and other young people under the age of 22. The proposal would cut the additional Universal Credits payments that are offered to undre-22s who have limited capacity to work due to disability or illness.

We are collecting signatures from people in the University of York community to demonstrate opposition to the proposed cuts to disability benefits. A list of signatories will be sent to MPs representing York to show concerns about these changes.

Please note signatures will be stored and accessed by York SU's Student Voice Team and representatives.
