SAYMH (South Asian Youth Mental Health) Ambassadors Application
Dear Applicant:
We'd like to thank you for your interest in becoming a South Asian Youth Mental Health (SAYMH) project ambassador in our next phase of the exciting project, in partnership with the local Fijian and Caribbean communities.
SAYMH trainees will participate in a Mental Health Ambassadors retreat on August 25-28th, 2022. The retreat will take place at the Edenvale Retreat & Conference Centre (4330 Bradner Road, Abbotsford). Trainees will gather on the morning of the first day at a meeting location to be announced, and be taken by bus to Edenvale. The retreat will include Peer Support training certification, Fraser Health Authority's overdose response and prevention training, as well as system navigation, wellness, cultural safety, and community engagement workshops with experienced professionals. Trainees will be transported by bus back to the meeting location on the evening of the last day. The retreat includes three overnight stays at Edenvale as well as a family picnic (invite your family!) on the last day.
In total, twenty applicants will be selected for this Retreat.
Requirements for the retreat applicants are as follows. Participants must be:
- Between the ages of 16 and 29.
- Living in British Columbia.
- Available to attend the full retreat as much as possible. (if schedule may be a challenge please let us know and we can work with you).
The SAYMH project is being supported by the BC Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions.
The SAYMH project is organized by the South Asian Mental Health Alliance in collaboration with 3E Organization, Canadian Federation of Fiji Organizations, Empower the Future, and other local community partners.
