Grades 1& 2: Learn to play the violin or cello! Interested grade 1 and 2 students may participate in an after school strings class on Tuesdays from 3:00-4:15 p.m. Students will also receive a group class once per week during a recess or PE time. Participation in this program is contingent on the student taking private lessons concurrently outside of school. The class will focus on technique and note reading skills and students will perform in at least two concerts each school year. (Students can be in both strings and the PE tennis program. We work closely with the coach to align their schedules.) (Fee $600/year)

Grades 3 & 4: Learn to play the violin or cello! Interested students in grade 3 and 4 may receive instruction for their chosen instrument (violin or cello). They will receive two group lessons each week that take place during one PE class and one recess period. The class will focus on technique and note reading skills and students will perform in at least two concerts each school year. Since this instruction is offered during the school day, there is no fee - families just need to submit the registration form. (Students can be in both strings and the PE tennis program. We work closely with the coach to align their schedules.)

Orchestra: Advanced grade 3 and 4 students who show competency with note reading may be invited to join the Lower School Orchestra, which meets after school on Thursdays from 3:00-4:15 p.m. Students will also participate in two group lessons offered during the school day each week. Interested students may audition in the Fall or be recommended by the instructor for the LS Orchestra. In addition, grade 2 students who demonstrate an advanced level of proficiency, are studying privately outside of school, and show developmental readiness, may also audition or be recommended by the instructor for the LS Orchestra. Students will perform in at least three concerts each school year. (Students can be in both strings and the PE tennis program. We work closely with the coach to align their schedules.) (Fee $600/year)
