Join us as we provide a series of events to explore the great outdoors! All events are FREE!

Here's our lineup of fun events: 
  • Woodcock Walk 
Where: Taylor Fork Ecological Area (1 Hancock Taylor Ln, Richmond, KY 40475) 
Date and time: March 1, 5:30 - 7 pm
 Join us for a magical evening exploring the fascinating world of the American Woodcock! We’ll venture into their habitat to witness their unique courtship display! 
  • Plant & Restore: Trees & River Cane
Where: Taylor Fork Ecological Area (1 Hancock Taylor Ln, Richmond, KY 40475) 
Date and time: March 13, 3 - 6 pm
  This event focuses on planting native trees and restoring river cane, an essential species for healthy ecosystems and wildlife habitats.  
  • Explore & Restore: Woodland Restoration Hike
Where: Taylor Fork Ecological Area (1 Hancock Taylor Ln, Richmond, KY 40475) 
Date and time: April 5, 10 am - 12 pm
  Join us for a guided hike on EKU's newest trail loop Fork through a restoration site to learn how restoring native grasslands and woodlands supports wildlife, improves biodiversity, and enhances the ecosystem.  
  •   Wander & Wonder: A Maywoods Hike  
Where: Maywoods Environmental and Education Laboratory (447 Maywoods Rd, Crab Orchard, KY 40419) 
Date and time: April 26, 10 am - 12 pm 
  Celebrate National Trails Day and experience the natural beauty of Maywoods on a guided hike designed for all nature lovers!
  • Community Nature Day
Where: Cardinal Lane Outdoor Laboratory (Cardinal Ln, Richmond, KY 40475) 
Date and time: May 3, 10 am - 3 pm 
  Dive into engaging nature activities and interactive learning sessions designed to connect you with the outdoors!
