A little bit of background information: DC3C Exploring Careers, Colleges, and Community, is a program of the DC Special Education Cooperative. 2018 will be our 3rd year offering our Spring Break Program sponsored by RSA, and in partnership with George Washington University and the HSC.
Spring Break is a week-long student program. Over the first two years we have seen a dramatic increase in student interest to participate. Students who attended in the past increased their interview scores by over 20%. In 2018 our goal is to have 75% of the participants leave the program with paid internship offers. To meet this goal, participants will engage in rigorous job-readiness training to master the interview and improve their networking skills.
In order to help our students obtain employment, we need YOUR help. There are many ways to get involved and join us! During the week of Spring Break (March 26-March 30) your volunteer responsibilities may include: one-on-one support with a student in resume development, coaching of practice interviews, conducting mock interviews, supporting the development of a presentation board, or participating as an "employer" in a reverse job fair. To see what a reverse job fair is please see our news coverage last year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BoBjOnB0AGQ&feature=youtu.be
There are also ways to support DC3C and the DC Special Education Cooperative outside of this week. If you would like more information or have any questions please contact our Director of Secondary Transition, Dr. Rebecca Foster, firstname.lastname@example.org
Again, thank you for your interest in working with us and supporting DC's students!
