READ TO ME (so I will succeed) is a program that I think is very much needed in our community.
After much research, and hands on experience, I believe we need to get books into the hands of new parents before they ever leave the hospital with their newborn baby. The old saying “They don’t know, what they don’t know” applies here. My hope is to gift every baby born in both Longview hospitals with a backpack filled with information about the importance of reading to their children, as well as books and other resources to get them started on the right path.

I have been an educator for 36 years, and 35 of those years have been in kindergarten. My education experience has shown me the educational gaps that exist between those students that have been read to and those that haven’t.
