West Campus Stables STUDENT RIDER Application
Thank you for your interest in becoming a STUDENT RIDER at West Campus Stables! Being a student rider is an amazing opportunity to connect with our community and enhance your horse handling skills. Before applying, PLEASE READ this entire description.

The first step to fill out this application. The application process is competitive and how many riders we take depends entirely on horse availability, so it may take between one and four quarters to get placed even for qualified applicants.

After submitting your application, it will be placed on a drive that all owners have access to view. Members looking for riders look through application periodically and reach out to applicants whose experience, goals, and level of expertise match what they are looking for and what their horse needs.

IMPORTANT NOTE: FILLING OUT AN APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU A SPOT! THE PROCESS IS COMPETITIVE AND VARIABLE BASED ON HORSE AVAILABILITY AND MEMBER NEEDS.

After an owner reaches out and gets to know you, an interview will be set up with the executive board. Passing this interview is the last and most important step of the process.

Qualified Applicants demonstrate these qualities:

- Sufficient experience working with and riding horses
- Deep knowledge of horse handling etiquette and safety
- Ability to ride independently without a trainer or other supervision
- Reliability, integrity, and consistency
- Willingness to be an active and contributing member of the co-op
- Ability to recognize and appropriately respond to equine medical emergencies

After submitting an application, it will be placed on a drive that all current horse owners have access to view. Horse owners will look through the applications when they are preparing to select a student rider. If an oner feels like you will be a good fit, they will reach out to you individually via the contact method you provide. REMEMBER that filling out an application does NOT guarantee you a spot, and it may take several months for any owner to reach out. YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE EMAIL TO YOUR APPLICATION. IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE PLACED ON THE DRIVE FOR VIEWING.

Thanks again for your interest, and we look forward to hearing from you! If you have any other questions, feel free to email us at ucsbhorses@gmail.com or visit our website https://www.ucsbhorseboarders.com/.
