Tuesday, October 25 from NOON-1PM                                                                  From A to Z: What is the Family Caregiver Support Program and Project C.A.R.E.?, hosted by the Cape Fear Area Agency on Aging

Families are the major provider of long-term care in America. Your local Area Agency on Aging provides the services of the Family Caregiver Support Program, such as assistance for caregivers in gaining access to services, information and referrals, individual counseling and more while administering Project C.A.R.E, a state-funded dementia specific program for family caregivers.

Kandace Gray with the Cape Fear Area Agency will provide information about the services and resources your local AAA offers, including respite, care consultations, and more. The Alzheimer's Association Eastern NC will also present a brief overview of Alzheimer's and dementia, risk factors, and additional resources.

Wednesday, October 26 from NOON-1PM                                                            Caregiving During the Holidays, hosted by the New Hanover County Library

For many caregivers, the holiday season gives rise to stress, frustration and anger, instead of peace and goodwill. Already feeling overwhelmed with caregiving tasks, stressed out caregivers may view traditional holiday preparations as more of a drain of energy than a joy. This program is designed to teach caregivers to care for themselves and their loved ones, and about holiday safety all while giving suggestions to both caregivers and their community that may make the holidays more enjoyable for you and your loved ones.
