Drop-In Program: Monday, October 16, 6:00-8:00 pm
This workshop is aimed at students who are getting ready to write their college admissions essays or want to get a head start on the process. In the class, students will learn how to write to the audience for their application — the admissions committee who’ll be reading their essays. They’ll also learn how to turn personal stories into strong arguments for admission. Through role-playing, free-writing, and small-group dialogue, students will leave with a thorough first brainstorm of their essays, a community of other applicants, and greater confidence surrounding the whole college admissions process.
Led byALEXI LEVITON is a writer, consultant and Lonely Planet author who has also been teaching personal essay writing since 2001. She has a master's degree in journalism from UC Berkeley and has spent many years working with new writers as a writing coach, the editorial director of Trip.com, or during in-situ travel writing workshops around the world. Using her weird but effective methodology, she's writing a book about finding your voice called Suitcase to Mars. NOTE: Crafting a College Essay is a drop-in program, and this RSVP list gives us an idea of how many students to expect. Thanks!
