Join us for a screening of the Ainu film, "Sicigorousawa un Cironnop," and a talk by the author and producer Koji Yuki, whose woodblock prints inspired the film. The talk will be between Kyoto Seika University President　OussoubySacko and Center for Diversity Chair and Inclusion Jennifer Teeter.  
アイヌ神謡（カムイユカラ）の手法に倣い、アイヌ語(日本語と英語字幕)で語られる短編映画の上映を行います。またこの映画の原作者、結城幸司さん（結城さんの物語と版画から、この映画が作られました）とサコ学長、ダイバーシティ推進センターのティーターとのトークに是非お越し下さい。

■ Synopsis
The foxes of the Shichigoro swamp in Higashiyama, Hokkaido, find their lives turned upside down by encroaching human settlements. With the destruction of their habitat and hunting grounds, the foxes face the prospect of losing their young to starvation, and a way of life that has lasted generations. This short feature animation is created from exquisite traditional woodblock prints and told entirely in the endangered Ainu language.

■ 物語あらすじ
函館市東山の里山に棲む狐は、先祖代々七五郎沢の恵みを糧にこの地で暮してきた。しかし、人間たちが医療廃棄物を含むゴミを捨てるようになってから、カラスばかりが空を舞い、動物たちは姿を消して、狩りをすることができなくなってしまった。やがて乳もでなくなり、子育てもままならない母狐は、沢に沿って山を下り、人間の住む町に辿り着く。ようやく鼠を捉え、東山に戻るが、ゴミの臭気で巣穴を見つけられず、狐は子育てすることができなくなったこの土地を去ることにした。

YUKI　Koji   (Ethnic background: Ainu)
Biography:
A woodblock print artist, musician, and storyteller, Koji Yuki was born in Kushiro, Hokkaido in 1964. As a member of the Ainu, the indigenous people of the island of Hokkaido, Koji actively addresses the issues surrounding indigenous peoples’ rights in both his artistic work and beyond. In 2008, Koji served as Secretary General of the Indigenous Peoples Summit in Ainu Mosir (Hokkaido), in which 24 ethnic groups from 11 countries were invited to participate, and delivered a recommendation to the G8 Summit that year. He is also the leader and vocalist of Sapporo-based rock band, the Ainu Art Project, formed in 2000 to engage young people with Ainu culture.


結城幸司
版画家、ミュージシャン、語り部。1964年釧路生まれ。北海道の先住民族アイヌとして、アートの作品や様々な活動を通して、アイヌ文化を発信し続けている。2008年には、11カ国24民族を招待し、G8サミットに提言を行った「先住民族サミット アイヌモシリ2008」で事務局長を務めた。2000年にアイヌ文化に取り組む若者で結成された、札幌を拠点とするロックバンド、アイヌアートプロジェクトのボーカルでありリーダーも務めている。

マリ共和国生まれ。 国の派遣により北京語言大学、南京東南大学で学ぶ。1990年、東京
で短期ホームステイを経験しマリに共通するような下町の文化に驚く。91年来日、99年京
都大学大学院工学研究科建築学専攻博士課程修了。博士（工学）。専門は空間人類学
。「京都の町家再生」「コミュニティ再生」など社会と建築の関係性を様々な角度か
ら調査研究している。京都精華大学人文学部教員、学部長を経て2018年4月から現職。
