Modeltude Agency SMARTSHOPPES: Life Skills Empowerment Institute
Smartshoppes are designed for tweens/teens (ages 10-17) and young adults (18-35) to become better model citizens within their communities locally and globally by taking part in various life skills empowerment sessions along with community service involvement.
Class Meeting (3 weeks | 2.5 hour sessions (3.0 hours last session | Saturdays) | Total: 8 hours
Dates: August 3 | August 10 | August 17 (Saturdays)
Times: 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. | 12:00 - 2:30 p.m. | 3:00 - 5:30 p.m. (All times will end 30 minutes later on their last day)
Age: 10 years old - 12 years (tween) | 13 years old - 17 years old (teens) | If your teen's birthday is in October you may sign them up to participate in the sessions (i.e. turns 10 or 18....)
Please note: All tweens & teens will be in class together
Certificate received upon completion
Cost: $50 per life skill session (8 hours of instruction) or $125 pay in full/3 weeks (24 hours of instruction)

Dress Attire: Smart Casual Attire
(An example of smart casual would be a pair of slacks or a nice pair of dark denim jeans with a button up shirt/polo style shirt/blouse/cardigan and closed toe shoes. This dress code typically excludes shorts, worn jeans, sandals, and T-shirts. Clothing and grooming styles dictated by religion or ethnicity are exempt.)

Body Image Media & Your Self-Esteem | Facilitator: Donyan M. Rogers, M.Ed.
Empowerment Series: When children feel good about their bodies, the chances of being bullied are decreased. In this course, students will learn how mass marketing and media contributes to body issues in children. Topics include the media's perception of children, self-reflection, peer pressure, staying healthy, and eating disorders. Activities include journal writing and interactive sessions on building self-esteem. Parents/guardians will be invited to a class production during the last session. Please note: August 17 session will end at 12 p.m.

Leader In ME: Leadership Skills for Young People | Facilitator: Donyan M. Rogers, M.Ed.
In this course students will learn what it takes to be a leader at school, home and within their community. Various techniques are shared that students may use to enhance leadership skills and learn basic leadership tips, and what it means to have MODELTUDE! Students engage in various group activities and showcase their leadership style through role-playing exercises. Parents/guardians will be invited to the last session for a showcase. Please note: The August 17 session will end at 3 p.m.

Proper Manners & Social Etiquette | Facilitator: Donyan M. Rogers, M.Ed.
Children with proper etiquette skills aren't as aggressive towards their peers. In this course, students will learn about social skills including manners, poise, dining/tipping, grooming, dating, chivalry, telephone etiquette, and public speaking. This course will assist in building self-esteem and confidence. There will be various activities for students to utilize and practice their etiquette skills. Parents/guardians will be invited to a party that students will host to showcase what they have learned in class. Please note: The August 17 session will end at 6 p.m.
