Theatre Communications Group (TCG), a national organization for theatre, is seeking candidates to fill open positions on its Board Taskforces. We hope you will consider this opportunity!
In 2021, TCG celebrated its 60th anniversary. Early in the year, the Board approved a new strategic plan that was developed by board and staff, with input from community stakeholders. The four priorities that emerged were:
1) A Fulfilling and Caring Workplace Culture; 2) Reimagining our Governance Ecology; 3) Mission Directed Programs and Partnerships, that center BIPOC/BITOC needs and experiences and TGNC and Disability Communities within that; and 4) Capitalization that Sufficiently Serves.
As we interrogated what our vision of “a better world for theatre, and a better world because of theatre” means today, we fortified and clarified TCG’s mission: to lead for a just and thriving theatre ecology.
Evolving our governance ecology is a priority in our new strategic plan. We want to model new ways of sharing power at the board level, and we are taking an expansive and inclusive approach. In the place of a single board structure, TCG will be governed by a Viability Board, working alongside Taskforces in four priority areas: Next Generation, Breaking Barriers, Global Connectivity, and Capitalization.
Viability Board and Taskforce members are volunteers who are interested in being a part of our exciting new governing ecology and our mission to lead for a just and thriving theatre ecology. If you are interested in TCG opportunities that offer compensation, please let us know of your interest in our occasional short term paid advisories and/or our available job postings by emailing Board Liaison,
sjames@tcg.org.
We invite you to nominate yourself or someone else for one of the Taskforces detailed below. Applications are due on Friday, December 17th at 5pm ET.
