That was the year 1908. Those were the days when Vallabhai Patel was practising as a lawyer He was a well-known and a famous lawyer then. During those days his wife was suffering from a serious disease. Her doctors decided to do an operation. They fixed the date for the operation also Patel was then at Anand in connection with a murder case. He had to plead on behalf of an innocent man who was wrongly charged with the murder. He received a telegram when he was about to argue. He put the telegram in his pocket. He did not go through the telegram as he knew that it would convey a sad message.
