Effective Altruism Community Subsidized Therapy Application Form
Please fill out the following form to apply for a subsidized therapy session with Damon Pourtahmaseb-Sasi. Funding for subsidised therapy is made available through a grant from the Long-Term Future Fund, administered by the Centre for Effective Altruism.
Clients will be considered for subsidized therapy if they are primarily working on a cause area generally-accepted to be of interest and concern to effective altruists (collectively ‘effective projects’).
• Are constituted or broadly concerned with achieving their aims as effectively as possible, either with explicit reference to principles of effective altruism, or could reasonably be judged to be following such principles
• May be formally constituted organisations, independently-run projects, or a program of study with the specific aim of building the skills to work on an effective project in the future.
• May address a variety of pressing problems generally accepted as being part of the work of the effective altruism community (e.g. reducing poverty or human suffering, promoting animal welfare, reducing global catastrophic risks, ensuring the flourishing of future generations, building the effective altruism community)
‘Working for an effective project’ may be understood as employed by, interning at, or providing substantial volunteer time for an effective project. No distinction is made between different types of work within a project (e.g. frontline service providers, executives, researchers, operations staff, interns etc.), provided that the client’s work is in some way contributing to the project’s success.
Those not currently working at an effective project, but who have recently ceased working at one, and those who are currently on leave from an effective project are also eligible.
