1. Membership & Fees

Membership Fee: $100 per year
Book Entry Fees: $25 per book (initial state); $20 per book (additional states).
Book Updates: $5 fee for price changes.
Refunds: All fees are non-refundable and do not roll over if unused.
Minors: Authors 18 or younger must be accompanied by a parent/guardian, who assumes all tax and payment responsibilities.
Membership: is for 1 complete year and renewal is due upon receipt of the invoice which will be for membership only. Books will not need to be renewed.
Renewal: Invoices are sent one month prior to your anniversary date. Payments may appear from Snapbookllc via PayPal.
All invoices are due upon receipt.
Please note membership is one complete year and you get 340 days of book signings in that year with your membership.

2. Required Supplies Checklist

4'x2' Table & Chair
Tablecloth
A Banner max size 2'x6' ("Meet the Author...") although a smaller banner or table sign will work
Book stands/holders
Name tag
Photocopy of book back (for customer scanning)
Minimum of 20 books on hand

3. Registration of Books

Books entries take 30 days to enter the system
A Welcome letter with instructions will be sent to you once your registration is complete
All issues with book scanning must be handled through the program only
All book prices must be $10.99 or higher
We are only in the following states TX, CO, AZ, CA, WA, ID, OR, AK, MI, VA, WV, GA, TN, OH, KY and Southern IN.

4. Scheduling & Logistics

Lead Time: Signings must be scheduled at a minimum of two weeks in advance. You can schedule out months in advance if you wish.
Deadline: Submit schedules by Thursday at 10:00 AM CT. (Example: For a Feb 2nd signing, submit by Jan 22nd).
Format: Emails must only contain: Store | Date | Time. (No attachments).
Frequency: 1 store per week (Monday–Sunday). You may visit that same store up to 7 times that week.
Exception: Houston/Dallas divisions are limited to 3 days per store per week.
Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM only.
Cancellations: Notify the Program Coordinator at least 72 hours in advance.
Block-out Dates: Each year, a list of dates will be provided when book signings can not be held due to the holiday
Scheduling Requirement: You must complete a minimum of 6 book signings a year

5. Book Signing Day Protocol

Arrival: Check in at the Customer Service Desk.
Setup: Use your 4'x2' table with a tablecloth and a sign reading: "Meet the Author. Get your Book Signed Today."
Required Documents: You must have a printed copy of the division schedule email. No printout = no entry.
Sales Process: * Provide customers with a barcode to pay at the register.
Verify the receipt before handing over the book.
All transactions must occur inside the store (not in the parking lot).
Conduct: You are a guest. Be polite, flexible if asked to move, and dress professionally.
Guests: Only pre-approved persons, service animals, or caregivers are allowed. Co-authors must have their own membership.

6. Payments & Taxes

Earnings: Authors receive 62% of gross sales.
Payment Method: Paper checks from Snapbookllc (via Chase Bank) sent within 3 weeks of the signing. Authors can also be paid via Zelle.
Tax Documentation:
1099 forms are issued by late January for earnings over $2000 (subject to change per tax law).
If you do make $2000 or more, we will require you to provide your tax info by the end of fiscal year Dec 31st.
Disputes regarding tax forms must be submitted by March 1st.

7. Content & Professionalism and Approval

Book Content: The program prohibits pornography, extreme language, racism, politics, or any other controversial subject matter.
Media: No filming/photography of customers without written consent. Film crews require pre-approval from Kroger PR.
Zero Tolerance: Customer complaints or policy violations may result in immediate termination and deactivation of books from the store system.
Authors must dress appropriately and professionally when selling their books.
All displays must engage the public and respect the space that the store has provided for the author.
No weapons, drugs, or alcohol use are permitted during your book signings.
If managers are concerned about your book signings, politely respect their comments, and contact the Program Coordinator immediately.
All Authors must complete a short phone interview upon submission
