NBN Data Capture Initiative  2014 - Habitats - * ENGLAND ONLY *
Organisation and Applicant Details - There is no limit to the number of submissions each organisation makes, but  a new form needs to be completed for each dataset. Unfortunately the fund is only open to submissions from England.

Habitat Dataset Details
Here you need to record the details of the datasets you would like to be considered for digitisation. Each entry must contain data of the same type, recorded to the same scale and use the same attributes. They can contain multiple sheets or sets of information, but it must all be the same.
Your dataset name (e.g. Upland NVC surveys) *
The title must be descriptive and recognisable
Year or year range for the surveys e.g. 1994 or 2000-2004 *
Habitat Data Type *
Habitat data classification help - http://habitats.nbn.org.uk/habitatClassList.asp
Other habitat classification details
Name or description of the classification type or system
Capture scale - Just the number e.g. for 1:10,000 just use 10000 *
If in doubt, use the scale of the backdrop mapping
Number of surveys *
How many discrete surveys are included?
Total number of map sheets *
Size of map sheets *
A0, A1, A2 etc
Total survey area estimate in hectares *
Answer required is a single number
Estimate of the total number of polygons across all survey sheets (single number required) *
We don't need an exact figure, but a reasonable estimate would help us cost the work more accurately
Number of attributes per polygon *
Please tell us how many data items are recorded for each polygon - this number needs to be accurate, but we don't need to capture all records per polygon. We need each dataset to have a consistent set of attributes across all polygons. If there are differences, it may be better to make separate submissions.
Why is this dataset important? What value will it add to your operations? *
Please describe in a few words why it is important to get these data captured. It would be useful to know the value in terms of local, regional and national importance.
What plans will you put in place to maintain this dataset? How and at what frequency will it be updated in the future? *
We need to be sure that there is an ongoing commitment to maintain a dataset before we can agree to fund its capture.
What processes will you use to record uses of the dataset once captured? *
We need to be sure that there are processes in place to record when and how a dataset is used.
What priority would you assign to capturing this data? *
How important is it to get this data captured?
Least important - data would only be used occasionally for management, decision-making or research
Most Important - data will be used daily in our work and would significantly aid decision-making and management
Quality of the mapped data *
Please provide an assessment of the quality of the mapped polygon data. Are the boundaries clear? Are all polygons closed? Are the attributes easy to identify?
Poor
Excellent
Quality of the attribute data *
Please provide an assessment of the quality of the attribute data. Are the attributes easy to identify? Are they collated on separate sheets or already digitised?
Poor
Excellent
Why does this dataset not exist in digital form?
Please let us know why this dataset has not already been captured. What are the funding limitations?
Anything else to add?
Please add in any other information which may help with our assessment.
