Test your knowledge
This is an ungraded check of your knowledge (i.e. I do not look at these results in any way shape or form--nor do they effect your grade).
They are designed so you can have some feedback on the assigned readings/videos/notes to see if you picked up some of the basic knowledge.
From the syllabus. Do assignments that do not compile receive any credit?
No--unfortunately code that does not compile does not receive any credit. You can always test your code to make sure it works however.
Yes, programming assignments that do not work or compile in any way receive credit--perhaps still up to 100%!!!
Are git and github the same thing?
Yes--100% the same
'git' is a version control system. 'github' on the other hand is a host for projects stored in the git revision system.
Do you think you will use ssh through the terminal (i.e. command line) to log into our servers to do assignments?
Yes, because that way we are all on a common environment where code can be tested, and also backups can be stored! SSH is frequently used in industry to access machines remotely as well, and is a good skill to practice.
No, ssh sounds like a hassel and not a real world skill.
