Scholarship Application for Black Excellence in Early Learning

If we want to create schools that nourish the intellectual imagination of younger generations then we have to dismantle the structures and ideologies of racism, and we need to start right now. – Dr. Angela Davis

In Black Excellence in Early Learning, we will reimagine the system and structures of education. The courses are designed from the cultural wisdom of Black teachers for the growth and development of Black children.

In this 12-credit certificate program (9 months), Black educators will be empowered to practice culturally-sustaining instruction and critical reflection in the classroom, by applying a lens of racialized impact in schooling, in order to provide transformative early learning experiences for Black children.

In partnership with Preschool for All and Portland State University, this program is offered to the Black community by KairosPDX, which exists to eliminate the prolific racial achievement and opportunity gaps by cultivating confident, creative and compassionate leaders.

Scholarships available to Black educators in Multnomah County. Space is limited. Applications are available until the end of July, scholarship recipients will be notified and proceed to the interview stage on a rolling basis, at the latest the first week of August.
