"Plein Air Impressions," A POPs Art Exhibit

This Exhibit will give artists who paint with Peninsula Outdoor Painters ("POPs") an opportunity to show their work that celebrates the landscapes of California and beyond. Studio and plein air paintings are welcome including oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastel. No digital media, photographs or reproductions, such as giclee prints.

This Exhibit will be held in the beautiful, historic Twin Pines Art Center, 10 Twin Pines Lane, Belmont, CA 94002.

SHOW SCHEDULE
Jan 25 - Mar 6: On-line Registration opens on Jan 25 and closes at the end of the day on Mar 6.


May 13: Drop off paintings at Twin Pines Art Center (address above) between 12pm - 2pm. The Exhibit will be hung that day.


May 15 - May 30: Show open to the public. NOTE: The Art Center is open Wed - Fri, 12pm - 4pm and Sat - Sun, 1pm - 4pm.

May 19: Artist's Reception, 2pm - 4pm.


May 31: Pick up paintings, 12pm - 2pm.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. The Exhibit is limited to 30 POPs artists and registrations will be accepted in the order received. Each of the 30 artists can display one wall painting, and 20 of those artists can also submit a tabletop painting (also accepted in the order received).
2. To register, complete the online Registration Form using the button at the bottom of the page. Your application will be automatically submitted to the Exhibit Committee.
3. A registration fee of $5 per painting will be payable when paintings are delivered on May 13. This fee will cover costs associated with PR, some refreshments, such as wine, water, and incidentals related to the Reception.
4. Registered Artists may NOT submit substitute paintings after they have registered.

DISPLAY AND FRAMING
1. The Exhibit can display work on both walls as well as tabletop spaces:

- 30 paintings hung on the walls (“Wall Paintings”), maximum dimensions, landscape or portrait format, 24” x 30”, including frame; maximum weight 5 lbs.
- 20 smaller paintings displayed on tabletops (“Tabletop Paintings”), maximum dimensions, landscape or portrait format, 13” x 16”, including frame and table display stand. Artists must provide their own stands for their tabletop paintings. The stand must be sufficiently stable to support the painting.
2. Total Number of Submissions
- If the maximum number of Wall and Tabletop Paintings are submitted prior to March 6, registration will be closed.
- 
If the maximum number of paintings are NOT submitted by March 6, Registered Artists will have the option of submitting additional paintings for the Exhibit.
3. Framing 

- All Wall and Tabletop Paintings must be ready to hang with picture wire and D-rings.
- Watercolor and pastels must be framed with glass or plexiglas.
- Canvas boards/panels must be framed; gallery wrapped canvas need not be framed. The edges of unframed canvases must be finished with paint, tape, etc.
4. Labeling
- Artists must label each Wall and Tabletop painting on the back with the artist's name, email address, title of painting, medium, framed size and price. Tabletop stands must be labeled with the artist’s initials.
- The Exhibit Committee will prepare display labels for each Wall and Tabletop Painting.

SALES & SHOW ARRANGEMENTS
1. In order to facilitate sales, a list of artists' email addresses/contact information will be available in the Exhibit Binder. Artists are welcome to leave business cards as well.
2. All paintings must be available for sale and must be displayed until the end of the Exhibit. If a potential buyer wants to buy a painting, the Art Center will contact the artist. The Art Center does not take a commission on sales, i.e., all proceeds from the sale go to the artist.
3. Neither the Art Center nor Peninsula Outdoor Painters will provide insurance for the Exhibit. Registered artists may provide their own insurance.
4. POPs will arrange the Exhibit and have the final say in the placement of work.
5. Since there are no storage facilities at the Art Center and no way to secure work, all work must be picked up on Fri., May 31 between 12pm – 2pm.

MARKETING


1. POPs will coordinate advertising and marketing for this Exhibit.
2. Artists who would like to have their paintings considered for promotional materials should indicate that option on the Registration Form and send one JPG of each piece to pops77pleinair@gmail.com The JPG should be high quality, i.e., 300 dpi, minimum size 8” x 10”, cropped and print-ready. NOTE: Please include your name and the name of the painting in the title of the jpg.
3. Artists are encouraged to submit an artist statement and biographical information which will be included in the Exhibit Binder. The artist statement and bio cannot exceed one 8.5” x 11”, two-sided sheet. Please bring this information when you deliver your painting.

RECEPTION
1. Artists are encouraged to invite guests, attend the Reception on May 19 from 2 - 4 PM and bring a sweet or savory food item.
2. Please indicate on the Registration Form what you plan to bring. You will be contacted by the artist coordinating the reception regarding your contribution.
