MAUSD is working on reducing costs for the coming school year, and beyond, by exploring several options.
This is separate from any actions or discussions happening at the state level. Based on the information currently available,
we face significant tax increases if we maintain the same programming and extracurricular activities while operating 5 schools with the same grade configurations.
One major driver in the cost increase is, yet again, projected increases in health insurance.
Most of the options being considered by MAUSD involve closing 2 elementary schools and reconfiguring grade levels in the remaining schools.
